Couples therapy can be useful to assist couples that are having difficulty with communication, which results to constant relationship barriers. These barriers can prohibit the relationship from strengthening and growing. Couples therapy is most effective when both parties are committed to making the relationship work. We strive on creating a safe and balanced environment that enables the couple to feel comfortable so they can freely express themselves.

With couples therapy we can strengthen communication skills by coaching the couple to:

  1.  Take the time to stop and really listen.
  2.  Accept the other’s point of view.
  3. Listen to the content of information that has been conveyed for the accurate meaning of the content.
  4. Listen to the feelings and observe body language.
  5. Restate the content after a person has spoken for a while.
  6. Ask questions to clarify the information.
  7. Avoid jumping to conclusions.
  8.  Avoid using sarcasm or cliches that may complicate the problem.
  9. Avoid giving false hope or reassurance to minimize the problem.
  10.  Compromise in order to reach a happy medium.
