Postpartum Depression

Are you having extreme difficulty with your ability to take care of yourself and your newborn child? Do you find yourself feeling depressed or unable to enjoy pleasurable activities? Do you find yourself experiencing negative thoughts or loss of interest with your baby? If so you may be experiencing postpartum depression, which can affect many new mothers. If you experience postpartum depression, you may worry about the baby’s well-being and yours.

Postpartum depression interferes with a woman’s ability to care of her baby and self. During the initial stages, postpartum depression can look like the normal baby blues. In fact, they share many symptoms; including mood swings, crying jags, sadness, insomnia, and irritability. However, with postpartum depression, these symptoms can last longer or be more severe. This can occur with any woman, either immediately after the birth of her baby or many months later.

At Healing Crossroads we can help you understand and cope with the issues during this rough time. We can help you recognize your own needs and empower you to rise above the situation.
